A misdirected postal delivery allowed investigators to dismantle a drug trafficking network in the Alpes-Maritimes. In March, private individuals accidentally received a parcel containing ten kilograms of ketamine concealed in packaging for pet food. This delivery error triggered an investigation by the Grasse research brigade.
The officers discovered a structured criminal organisation specialising in supplying the party scene, notably techno events. On Tuesday, gendarmes conducted several raids in La Colle-sur-Loup that resulted in four arrests.
During the searches, law enforcement officers recovered a significant quantity of illicit substances: more than 18 kilograms of various drugs, including cocaine, cannabis, ecstasy, MDMA and 4-MMC. The resale of this merchandise could have generated between 700,000 and 900,000 euros. Two pistols were also seized.
From a financial perspective, investigators blocked 323,000 euros in criminal assets, distributed in various forms: cash, precious metals, bank accounts, virtual currencies and three vehicles. Approximately ten individuals were questioned, either as suspects or as witnesses.
Regarding the four arrested individuals, two were brought before the Grasse public prosecutor's office for immediate trial. The third suspect must appear in September, whilst the fourth is benefiting from a plea agreement procedure.
