Trafficking in psychotropic drugs in Besançon: 33-year-old man held in custody

In the Planoise district of Besançon, a police unit arrested a 33-year-old man on 15 July 2026. The officers had initially spotted an illicit transaction of tobacco products in the street.

At the time of the intervention, the suspect was near a parked car nearby. Officers found approximately ten packets of cigarettes on his person, pharmaceutical substances classified as opiates, and a sum of 100 euros. A thorough search of the car led to the discovery of further items: twenty packets of rolling paper, two containers of tobacco, seven cartridges, eight additional packets of cigarettes, and empty packaging of medications such as Rivotril and Lyrica. Investigators also recovered 41 blue-coloured tablets, analysed as MDMA, weighing a total of 22.01 grammes.

The defendant denied owning the seized articles. Investigations revealed that this person was already registered with police under multiple identities and was subject to an order to leave the national territory.

At the end of his custody, he was released and summoned to appear before the criminal court on 2 April 2027.
