The criminal court of Bourges delivered its judgement on Friday 3 July in a drug trafficking case dismantled in 2023 in the northern districts of the city. Eight people appeared before the court from 1 July, including one who was absent.
The main defendant, a 30-year-old man, was sentenced to two years' detention. This sentence corresponds to the duration of his pre-trial detention already served. The investigating magistrate had nevertheless requested a far heavier sentence: seven years' imprisonment, one of which suspended, coupled with a deferred remand warrant and a fine of €20,000.
The accused had admitted to the facts during the investigation. Police had seized €166,210 in small-denomination notes from his residence, as well as items of value estimated at €38,000. His cannabis and cocaine business generated a monthly turnover of approximately €21,000, totalling €195,000 altogether.
Following five hours of deliberation, no remand warrant was issued, even on a deferred basis. The sentences imposed take into account the periods of custody already served by the various defendants.
