Around ten people were arrested on Monday 1 June in Upper Corsica by investigators from the gendarmerie's research section, according to corsematin.com. The operation is part of a preliminary inquiry opened by the Bastia public prosecutor's office for drug trafficking between the Eastern Plain and Corte.
The prosecutor of the Republic in Bastia, Jean-Philippe Navarre, confirmed the arrests. All those arrested are currently being questioned at the Borgo gendarmerie premises. In this type of procedure, custodies can be extended for up to 96 hours.
Searches conducted in parallel led to the seizure of drugs and cash. The exact quantities seized and the total extent of the alleged network have not yet been communicated by the judicial authorities.
