A man in his forties was sentenced to three years, one of which suspended with probation, for harassing his former partner in Meudon despite previous convictions in 2020, 2021 and 2025.

On 1 July, magistrates in the 20th criminal court chamber of Nanterre judged a 47-year-old man for harassment of his ex-partner, committed last May in the presence of their twelve-year-old child.
The intervention of law enforcement dated back to 22 May. On that day, police officers from the Meudon police station arrested the defendant on the landing of the third floor where the victim lived with their son. The man was striking the door violently whilst making threats. Several neighbours had already reported his erratic presence for several days around the building, barefoot and shouting insults.
The complainant, who had filed a complaint on the same day, described her ex-husband as paranoid and alcoholic. After his custody detention, the accused had been placed under judicial supervision with an obligation not to approach the family home. Three days later, the woman spotted him hiding in the vegetation in front of her home. He was then remanded in custody.
The accused, already punished by the courts on three previous occasions for identical behaviour, persisted in denial before the court. He claimed to have come to collect vehicle keys and maintain the illusion of a relationship still in existence, even though the divorce had been pronounced five years earlier. The exchanges with the presiding judge revealed complete incomprehension of the gravity of his actions.
The public prosecutor had sought two years of imprisonment, accompanied by exclusion from Meudon territory, deprivation of parental authority and a ban on all contact. The judges ultimately handed down a sentence of three years, of which twelve months with reinforced probation suspension. The defendant must now reside in Gers and refrain from any approach to the victims. He announced he would contest the decision on appeal.
