On 13 July 2026, two young men of Guinean nationality were tried in immediate appearance proceedings before Pau tribunal. The verdict came down: three years' imprisonment with no suspended sentence and continued detention. Expulsion from French territory for ten years completes their sentence.
Aged 22 and 25, these two individuals entered France irregularly when they were still teenagers with no family. Now without residence permits or legal employment, they chose the resale of controlled drugs as a source of income. One of them pleaded economic duress, citing the need to help his partner.
However, evidence gathered by investigators demonstrates a far more structured organisation than occasional retail commerce. The two men supplied a loyal customer base in the city. One of them had fourteen bank accounts, some opened fraudulently in his partner's name. The sums in circulation were substantial.
The raids were productive. Police discovered three rifles or pistols at one of the convicted men's residence, ammunition, several hundreds of grammes of illegal products and €38,000 in cash, hidden in envelopes. Plaster intended to cut cocaine was also seized. This technique, known as "cutting", allows the merchandise to be stretched and greater profits to be made. The selling price stood at 60 euros per gramme.
The tribunal recalled that the two defendants had already been convicted for similar offences. An expulsion procedure (OQTF) was already underway against them. Despite these antecedents, they continued their criminal activity.
