Murder and attempted murder: three suspects examined

According to midilibre.fr, an 86-year-old Briton was found dead outside his home in Verlus, in Gers, during the night of 25 to 26 September. The intervention of gendarmes initially triggered by a refusal to comply transformed into a murder investigation when the body of the vehicle owner was discovered in Mont-de-Marsan, bearing traces of violence. A few days later, an attempted murder was committed in Dax, in the Landes department.

The searches and interviews made it possible to identify several suspects. During an arrest on 6 October linked to the attempted murder in Dax, several people were taken into custody. The public prosecutor for Auch, Olivier Naboulet, stated that "the searches and interviews conducted during the periods of police custody support the initial investigative elements, with those accused acknowledging their involvement in the acts, at varying levels of participation".

Three people have been examined for the fatal robbery in Verlus and the attempted murder in Dax. Two suspects, aged 32 and 26, have been placed in custody. The judicial file of the oldest mentions 21 previous convictions, mostly for theft. A third suspect, aged 39 and suspected of complicity in attempted murder, has been examined on charges of complicity. He was placed under judicial supervision rather than in custody.
