Shots fired at house in Manche: three suspects brought before the courts

On 10 June 2026, at around 23:00, a house located in Orval-sur-Sienne, south of Coutances, was targeted by several gunshots. The projectiles passed through the lounge on the ground floor. Fortunately, the people present in the house were in a different room and sustained no injuries.

The military research unit from Caen took over the case. Their investigations revealed that the weapon used was a 9mm pistol. Through analysis of surveillance footage, investigators were able to identify four suspects, all aged between 17 and 19. They reside in the areas around Avranches and Granville and have previously had dealings with the law.

A wave of arrests took place on 7 July. On that occasion, the four young men were apprehended. Two of them were already serving prison sentences for previous offences. The magistrate of the Coutances public prosecutor's office decided to refer three of the four suspects to court.

As for their criminal status, the only adult defendant was due to appear immediately on 9 July. However, he obtained a reprieve to prepare his defence, his trial being postponed to September. As for the two teenagers, they were released under judicial supervision until their hearing at the juvenile court.
