Three minors detained during a high school demonstration

Three minors were taken into police custody on Wednesday 7 October in Orléans, according to TF1 Info. The teenagers are being pursued for apology of terrorism after participating in a video featuring a song by rapper BORO 700 recorded within the grounds of a school in Beaugency, in Loiret.

Prosecutor Emmanuelle Bochenek-Puren clarified that the offences in question concern the apology of terrorism "in connection with the lyrics of a song performed" by high school students in front of the François Villon high school. The investigation was opened on 6 October, the day before the detention. The incriminated sequence dates from Thursday 30 September, when the young people were demonstrating in front of the establishment.

The song features references to Mohamed Merah, who carried out attacks in Toulouse in 2012, and to Salah Abdeslam, a jihadist convicted for his role in the attacks of 13 November 2015. A similar preliminary investigation has also been opened in Vendée, following the publication of a video showing minors singing the same song in a church in Soullans. The Diocese of Luçon denounced a "serious violation of a place of worship". The individuals identified in this video are approximately 13 years old, according to prosecutor Sarah Huet de La-Roche-sur-Yon.
