An 18-year-old teenager was arrested in Montpellier on 1 July whilst photographing law enforcement vehicles with his mobile phone. This clumsy act drew the attention of police officers from Mosson police station, who were carrying out an operation to expel squatters from a building in Grand Mail.

The officers had been called for reinforcement by the social housing landlord Altémed. Upon entering the building, they detected the smell of cannabis coming from an apartment. The dog handling unit confirmed the presence of narcotics. Officers forced open the apartment door, which was found to be empty but contained 14 grammes of cocaine, 200 grammes of cannabis herb, over 100 grammes of resin and cutting equipment.

At the same time, police officers apprehended the young man, resident in Lattes, caught in the act of filming police vehicles. Officers found 10 grammes of cannabis resin on him. More incriminatingly, he held the key to the apartment that had been searched.

In police custody, the suspect partially admitted to drug trafficking, claiming to be acting on behalf of another individual. He was presented to the public prosecutor on Friday.
