A police officer working in Saint-Brieuc has received a custodial sentence suspended after being found guilty of physical assault whilst under the influence of alcohol in a Parisian bar.

A senior public security official, based in the Côtes-d'Armor department, appeared before judges at Paris's criminal court on 6 July 2026. He was to answer for a late-night altercation that occurred in a nightclub in the capital, during which he allegedly struck a customer.
The incident took place in December 2025. The individual in question, who was then holding a management position within the DDSP in Saint-Brieuc, was apprehended by colleagues from the police prefecture and held in provisional detention whilst the investigation was carried out. Seven months later, the Parisian court delivered its ruling.
The defendant was found guilty of assault occasioning bodily harm aggravated by intoxication. The victim was recognised as being unable to carry out their professional activities for a limited period, less than one week. The sentence imposed amounts to three months' imprisonment, with execution suspended.
The judicial authority of the capital transmitted the information to regional newspaper Ouest-France, which revealed the case.
