A 35-year-old man was sentenced to five years in prison after being caught with more than three kilogrammes of cocaine concealed in his luggage. Loïc Relav, the defendant, appeared before the courts in this drugs case.
The man had arrived in Guadeloupe from Martinique by maritime shuttle. He previously resided in Cayenne, French Guiana, before settling in the neighbouring island. When passing through the airport, customs officers discovered the drugs hidden in a petrol station, revealing a quantity of 3.1 kg of cocaine.
The defendant explained that he had incurred a debt related to drugs. According to his statements, his family in French Guiana was threatened, which allegedly forced him to transport this illicit cargo. Despite these alleged circumstances, the court imposed a sentence of five years' imprisonment.
