Woman between life and death after knife attack in Laval
A 31-year-old resident was discovered in critical condition on Thursday 11 June at around 11 o'clock in her flat in the Saint-Nicolas district of Laval (Mayenne). She had several stab wounds. Her condition is considered very serious and her life is in danger, confirmed investigating magistrate Anne-Lyse Jarthon.
Initial evidence gathered at the scene quickly identified the victim's partner as the prime suspect. Aged 34, he was apprehended at noon whilst attempting to leave the area. Police officers placed him in custody.
The prosecution opened a procedure for attempted murder of a spouse, entrusted to investigators from the DDSP of Mayenne. The suspect is already registered by the judicial system for offences relating to psychotropic substances.
The couple, parents of two children aged four months and eight years, had previously been the subject of no complaints regarding domestic violence.
