A driver refuses to comply in Pithiviers; police officer uses his weapon

A law enforcement officer used his service pistol on 30 June in the municipality of Pithiviers, located in the Loiret. The incident occurred at the end of the day, during a routine intervention in the town centre.

Officers were conducting a traffic control when a motorist refused to comply with their orders. Instead of stopping, she accelerated and directed her vehicle towards the police officers. One of the officers then drew his weapon and fired, striking the car.

The driver was restrained and taken to the station for questioning. Fortunately, none of the officers were injured during this incident. The General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) was called in, as required by protocol whenever a police officer uses his weapon.

This matter highlights the risks faced by law enforcement during traffic controls and the complexity of dealing with individuals who decide to force their way through.
