Ebba P Karlsson, a Swedish woman residing in the United States, filed a complaint in February against Daniel Siad, a model recruiter associated with Jeffrey Epstein, for an alleged rape that occurred in Cannes in 1990. The information was disclosed by Expressen.
In 1990, Siad met the young woman in Stockholm and convinced her to come to France under the pretext of a modelling career. Karlsson checked his background as best she could. She quickly discovered that the job offer was a deception. Siad had offered her accommodation in a luxury villa in Cannes belonging to friends.
The residence proved suspicious, entirely barricaded. According to her account, Siad exploited her vulnerability and raped her in the room housing the villa's swimming pool. At the time, the man allegedly used a false name. In a passport, Karlsson said she saw that he was going by a different name. He also allegedly threatened her by claiming to know the Paris police chief and that no one would believe her.
This is why she did not report the assault to authorities at the time. It was only when the Jeffrey Epstein affair broke and images of the recruiter circulated that she understood who he was. She then filed a complaint. The investigation is currently taking place in Paris.
Daniel Siad rejects the accusations. In an interview granted to Expressen, he stated that he had never raped a model in his life. He admits that he may have flirted or attempted to do so, but categorically denies any act of rape. He claims he is not the type to commit such crimes and says he is prepared to cooperate with the police in Sweden, France or elsewhere.
Today, Ebba P Karlsson works as a coach and runs the Victorious Angels foundation, which supports rape victims. She has published a book recounting her experience. Other victims have contacted her, but so far, the cases, including her own, are subject to statutes of limitations. She nevertheless continues to raise public awareness, hoping to identify a case still within the limitation period.
