According to franceinfo.fr, 780 people were arrested across French territory during the night of Saturday to Sunday, following Paris Saint-Germain's victory in the Champions League final. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez announced this figure on Sunday, 31 May, specifying that these arrests had resulted in "457 custodies".
This figure represents a 32 per cent increase compared to the previous year. In 2025, following the Parisian club's first Champions League victory, 592 people had been arrested, of whom 491 were in Paris.
One death on the ring road, one person between life and death
A fatal accident occurred during the night on the Paris ring road, during the celebrations. According to the Paris prosecutor's office, the driver of a motocross bike, born in 2002, collided head-on with concrete blocks at a slip road exit towards Porte Maillot. Two witnesses reported the circumstances of the accident.
A person wounded with a blade weapon in the capital is also between life and death, according to the same judicial source.
Furthermore, a driver injured two pedestrians on Saturday evening in Paris before fleeing the scene, according to witnesses interviewed by franceinfo. The Interior Minister indicated that the man had "lost control of his vehicle before hitting a terrace", specifying that, "to his knowledge", the life of the most seriously injured person "is not in danger".
57 police officers and gendarmes injured
Laurent Nuñez also announced that "57 police and gendarmerie officers had been injured" during this night. At a press briefing held around 1:30 am on Sunday, the minister said: "There were festive gatherings that were marked by a certain number of excesses, which corresponds to the situation we had anticipated and therefore prepared for."
Exceptional security measures
The prefecture had indicated that it had prepared "meticulously the security arrangements for the Champions League final", as well as those for other events organised simultaneously in the capital. In total, 22,000 police officers and gendarmes had been mobilised, of whom 8,000 for Paris and its metropolitan area.
The night of the triumph coincided with several major events: a rugby match, the continuation of the Roland-Garros tournament, a concert by Aya Nakamura at the Stade de France and a concert by rapper Damso at the Paris La Défense Arena.
