Vierzon: five convicted in drug trafficking case, one acquitted
On the evening of 12 June 2026, the court in Bourges ruled on a drug trafficking case in the Cher département. Of the six people tried, five were found guilty and received sentences ranging from 12 to 72 months in custody. The final defendant was acquitted due to insufficient evidence.
The offences date back to the 2025–2026 period, during which a network operated in the Cher town and its surroundings. Investigators were alerted by an anonymous tip-off. After months of surveillance and investigation, they uncovered a structure run by a couple living in the commune.
During a search of the couple's home, police discovered nearly five kilogrammes of illicit substances. The head of the network admitted to having organised the distribution of cannabis, cocaine and ecstasy, an activity that allegedly gained momentum in autumn 2025. He claims to have obtained supplies through a contact established online, whilst asserting that he had been manipulated regarding the quantities ordered.
The public prosecutor's representative rejected this argument. According to his calculations, the quantities distributed — approximately ten kilogrammes of cannabis over the course of two or three months — would correspond to a significant share of the local market, representing 5 to 10 per cent of the city's annual consumption. The declared profits of 22,000 euros also appeared to him to be underestimated in relation to the volumes involved.
Four men and a woman were present in the dock, held in pre-trial detention. Another defendant was appearing freely, under supervision by the investigating judge, since an earlier hearing that had been postponed to the end of April. The proceedings continued late into the night before sentencing was pronounced.
