Murder in Gosier: twenty years imprisonment for Achille Bougouneau despite defence arguments

According to guadeloupe.franceantilles.fr, the jury found Achille Bougouneau guilty of the murder of Ludrick Morentin, alias La Mafia, and sentenced him to twenty years imprisonment.
The fact is sufficiently unusual to be noted: the lawyers for the civil party and the defence pleaded in the same direction, both denouncing the lack of evidence against the accused. Maître Gladys Démocrite, representing the parents of the victim, was the first to point out numerous irregularities surrounding the case.
The public prosecutor's submissions, however, described the shooting — which occurred during the night of 5 to 6 March 2021 in Grand-Baie, Gosier — as the consequence of a "gang war". The jury followed this reasoning, disregarding the exculpatory arguments presented by both lawyers.
