13th anniversary of Fysssa's murder: Anti-fascist march in Keratsini
A large crowd paid tribute to the memory of Pavlos Fysssa 13 years after his murder by a member of Golden Dawn. This year's anniversary took on particular weight following the release of Kasidiaris.
Keratsini: Thousands march for 13 years since Fysssa's murder
Large participation was recorded on Friday, 18 September 2026 in the anti-fascist demonstration held in Keratsini and Nikaia in memory of Pavlos Fysssa, as reported by Newsit.gr. It was exactly 13 years prior, on 18 September 2013, that the anti-fascist musician was murdered by Giorgos Roupakias, a member of Golden Dawn.
At the head of the march was his mother, Magda Fysssa, together with relatives and friends. His parents left two bouquets of red roses at the entrance of the "Kokkinia Block" monument to the sound of Manos Loizos's "Accordion".
Collectives, associations, student unions and citizens turned out, as they do every year. Slogans such as "Pavlos lives, crush the Nazis" and "Not one step back" echoed through the streets of the area.
This year's anniversary took on particular weight as it took place just hours after the release of Ilias Kasidiaris, former vice-leader of the Nazi criminal organisation. The slogans were characterised as "more relevant than ever" in this context.
The march proceeded through the streets of Keratsini and Nikaia with the "Kokkinia Block" monument as the final destination. The demonstration was entirely peaceful, with strong momentum and continuous slogans, whilst a large police force remained on standby for any unforeseen incidents. After the conclusion of the event, roads in the area were reopened to traffic, as well as the Metro stations "Maniatika" and "Korydallós", which had been temporarily closed.
A corresponding anti-fascist march was organised the same day in Thessaloniki. Students, members of collectives, parties from the extra-parliamentary Left and individuals from the anti-authoritarian movement gathered at Kamaras Square and marched through main streets to the Venizelos Monument.
