A vast police operation was launched on Monday, 29 June 2026, by the Organised Crime Combat Subdivision in northern Greece, with simultaneous raids in Thessaloniki and Mykonos, according to mediafax.ro.

The authorities' objective is to dismantle a criminal organisation whose members were involved in drug trafficking, robberies, assault and vandalism of a sporting nature.

To date, 17 people have been arrested, of whom 15 have been identified as key members of the network. According to initial information, they are supporters of a football team in Thessaloniki. One of the detained persons was on holiday on the island of Mykonos and was apprehended there.

During the investigation, quantities of narcotics, a 9 mm pistol, an air-compressed pistol, a rifle, cartridges and knives have already been seized.

Police are to issue a detailed official update in the coming hours, according to Greek press cited by mediafax.ro.
