The Hellenic Police carried out evening operations at five brothels in Athens on 18 September 2026. Twenty-five women were arrested, and €2,870.50 and six surveillance recording devices were seized.

Police operation in brothels – 25 women arrested

Twenty-five women were arrested in Athens on the night of 18 September 2026, in a targeted operation to identify victims of human trafficking, according to In.gr.

The operation was carried out by the Organised Crime Division, with the participation of officers from the Department for Combating Human Trafficking and Exploitation. Of the 25 arrested women, 19 are foreign nationals and 6 are Greek nationals.

The checks focused on five brothels, as well as a premises operating under the guise of providing massage services. An entertainment venue was also checked, although no relevant violations were found there.

These premises had been repeatedly sealed following decisions by the Athens Municipality, without result. The women were found working within the sealed facilities.

During the checks, €2,870.50 in cash was found and seized, as well as six surveillance recording devices. The arrested women were taken to the relevant authorities, facing charges of violating legislation concerning foreigners and breaching seals imposed by the Authority.
