A 27-year-old German broke into a hotel room in Ammoudara, Heraklion in the early hours of Saturday and violently attacked his 25-year-old ex-partner, who was there on holiday with her new 19-year-old friend.

According to Newsbeast, the attack took place around 3 o'clock in the morning. The perpetrator, who is involved in kickboxing, had taken the first available flight from Germany to Crete after locating his ex-partner's accommodation through a shared email account.

The young woman had ordered food via an online platform, with the result that the order revealed her room number. The perpetrator located the accommodation and entered the area by jumping over the swimming pool fence.

When the 19-year-old friend attempted to stop him, the 27-year-old hit him with a punch to the face and knocked him down. He then attacked the young woman, striking her furiously. The victim sustained serious injuries to her face and body and was transported by ambulance to Venizeleio Hospital, where she is being treated.

The 19-year-old friend was also injured to the face. The perpetrator managed to flee the premises, but police officers from the Malevizi Security Department located him within an hour and arrested him. At the moment of arrest, he was preparing to leave the island.

The 27-year-old was brought before the prosecutor and was given a deadline to appear on Tuesday. He claimed that he had not intended to hit his ex-partner, but merely wanted to speak to her. He admitted, however, that he jumped the fence to approach her.
