49-year-old arrested for nine burglaries in Southern Suburbs shops
Police officers from the Southeastern Attica Prosecution Unit arrested a 49-year-old man alleged to have burgled the same shop twice over two days.

Nine cases of burglaries at shops in the Southern Suburbs have been solved following the arrest of a 49-year-old Greek national, according to Ta Nea. The arrest was carried out by a specialist police unit from the Southeastern Attica Crime Prosecution and Investigation Unit on the afternoon of 10 June 2026 in the Agios Dimitrios area.
Shortly before his arrest, the man had burgled a shop in the same area, removing a sum of money from the cash register. Characteristic of his methodology was that he did not hesitate to target the same shop twice within two days, whilst in some cases he carried out multiple burglaries in the same night.
According to the preliminary investigation, the suspect had been operating at least since May 2026, mainly during evening and late-night hours. He approached shops wearing a motorcycle helmet or hood and entered their premises using burglary tools, stealing money and mobile phones. He used a two-wheeled vehicle that he had stolen at an earlier time for his movements.
Authorities located the perpetrator following the evaluation of information and evidence relating to a series of recorded incidents in the area. During a search of his residence, burglary tools and clothing that he used during the commission of the crimes were seized.
The solved cases involve shops in Alimos, Argyroupoli, Ilioupoli and Agios Dimitrios. A case file has been compiled against him for aggravated burglaries and thefts committed on a continuous basis and as a profession. It is noted that the suspect had previously come to the attention of authorities for similar crimes. The arrested man was brought before the competent prosecutor.
