According to protothema.gr, the checks carried out by the Independent Authority of Public Revenue (AADE) at airports, ports and customs posts during the January–June period brought to light a particularly heterogeneous spectrum of illegal items and trafficked goods.
Among the seizures were weapons and narcotic substances, as well as exceptionally unusual finds, such as live parrots and a fossilised tree trunk — items that suggest attempts at smuggling protected species and archaeological material.
The checks were conducted at all major entry points to the country, covering both passenger and freight flows. The AADE did not announce the total number of cases or seizures for this period.
