Escape with fake siren: How Rizai disappeared from Anavyssos

Heavy-sentence prisoner Alkëtë Rizai fled from Anavyssos disguised as a police officer, minutes after an armed clash at a beach bar in the early hours of 13 September. According to Newsit.gr, these details emerge from a detailed statement by an eyewitness, which has been included in the case file compiled by police.

The witness stated that the 47-year-old fugitive from Domokos prison had placed a police beacon and loudspeaker on the roof of a black Mercedes SUV. On Sounion Avenue, with the siren activated, he forced the witness to stop at the roadside. He then lowered the window and pointed a gun at the witness's face. The newspaper Kathimerini first reported these details.

Rizai had come earlier for entertainment at the nightclub in Anavyssos. In the early hours, after the other customers left, he and his group came into conflict with the owner and staff of the establishment. An Afghan employee fired three times at Rizai without hitting him, but two other employees of the business were wounded.

Since that night, Alkëtë Rizai has gone missing. His leave expired the following day and he did not return to Domokos prison. Police believe he has fled to Albania or Kosovo, where many of his compatriots live.
