Man attacks refuse collection lorry driver in Nikaia – one arrested
A refuse collection lorry driver was beaten by three men in Nikaia during a street row. A 32-year-old was arrested, whilst authorities are searching for the other two.

A violent assault on a sanitation worker took place in the early hours in Nikaia, according to reports by Ta Nea. A 52-year-old refuse collection lorry driver for the municipality was struck by three men and was taken to hospital with injuries to the head, arm and a broken finger.
The incident began when the rider of a motorcycle, which was parked below the pavement, had a verbal altercation with a crew member. "This man was sitting on his motorbike on its stand below the pavement and saw fit to insult us, our families, our children because we passed by him," the driver stated to MEGA.
The driver got down from the refuse lorry to separate the two men. "As soon as I step in between them, he starts insulting me and he grabbed me and started beating me. Throughout the whole thing there were another two or three others, who got involved in the row and started beating me and all three of them were beating me," he described.
Police officers arrested one of the perpetrators, aged 32, whilst he was attempting to flee. A case file was opened against him. Authorities continue to search for the two other individuals involved.
The injured driver was taken to Attikon Hospital, where he received first aid and was subsequently discharged.
