Underage driver with revolver arrested in Sfakia, Chania
A 17-year-old driver without a licence was arrested in Sfakia with a revolver and ammunition in the vehicle. His mother was also arrested on suspicion of child neglect.
Underage driver with revolver arrested in Sfakia, Chania
On the afternoon of 18 June 2026, police forces in Chania arrested a 17-year-old in the Sfakia area. The young man was driving a vehicle and, when instructed to stop for a check, initially attempted to flee.
After the vehicle was immobilised, officers from the OPKE in Chania established that the minor did not possess a driving licence. During a search of the vehicle's interior, a revolver was found together with a holster and ammunition.
Additionally, his 47-year-old mother was arrested, facing charges of child neglect.
The investigation is being conducted by the Chania Subdirectorate for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes.
