Homicide on Chios: 51-year-old arrested for murder of 31-year-old following quarrel
A 51-year-old has been arrested on Chios accused of killing a 31-year-old man. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when, following an intense quarrel, the older man stabbed the younger one in the abdomen. The victim was transported to hospital, where he died the following day.

A 51-year-old resident of Chios is in the hands of prosecuting authorities, accused of the murder of a 31-year-old man. The bloody incident occurred on the evening of Wednesday, 10 June 2026 in the centre of the island's town.
According to information that has emerged, the two men became involved in an intense quarrel. At some point, the 51-year-old grabbed a knife and inflicted a blow on the 31-year-old, fatally wounding him in the abdominal area. In addition to the sharp object, he also used physical violence against the victim.
The young man was transported by emergency ambulance to Chios hospital. There, doctors operated on him immediately; however, they were unable to save his life. Shortly before noon on Thursday, 11 June, the 31-year-old breathed his last.
The day after the incident, police officers from the local precinct, with the assistance of the Chios Criminal Investigation Directorate, located and arrested the 51-year-old. A case file was drawn up against him for premeditated murder and for violation of the law concerning weapons.
Following the subsequent investigations, the initial forces located and seized the knife that was used, which was 16.5 centimetres in length.
