Thousands of citizens, collectives, associations and organisations took part in the anti-fascist memorial march for Pavlos Fyssas in Keratsini, according to Naftemporiki. His family led the march — his mother and father held the banner of the mobilisation — with the final destination being the Kokkinià Blockade.
Approximately 2,000 police officers were deployed along the route on standby. Metro stations in Maniatika and Korydallo remained closed to ensure the smooth conduct of the march.
On the night of 18 September 2013, Pavlos Fyssas lost his life from stab wounds inflicted by Giorgos Roupakias in Amphiáli, Keratsini. Just before losing consciousness, he himself indicated the perpetrator to police — a moment that became a turning point in uncovering the criminal activities of Golden Dawn.
The murder led to judicial investigation of the neo-Nazi organisation and the arrest of its leading members, including Nikos Michaloliakos, Ilias Kasidiaris, Ioannis Lagos and Christos Pappas. The lengthy judicial proceedings resulted in a verdict that characterised Golden Dawn as a criminal organisation, whilst in March 2026 the five-member Court of Appeals for Felonies confirmed the guilt of those convicted.
On Thursday morning, Pavlos's mother, Magda Fyssas, visited the memorial at the site of the murder and left a rose. Citizens paid tribute, sending a message against fascism and intolerance.
That same evening, a large crowd gathered at the major anti-fascist concert held at the Drapetsona Compost Works venue. Artists and citizens united their voices, emphasising that Fyssas's memory remains alive as a point of reference for the struggle for democracy and human rights.
"Pavlos lives, crush the Nazis" and "Not one step back" were among the slogans heard in the streets of Keratsini and Nikaia. Participants stressed that the struggle against fascism remains relevant. The march proceeded smoothly under the presence of strong police forces.
