According to skai.gr, an anti-fascist march took place today in Thessaloniki in memory of Pavlos Fyssas, who was murdered 13 years ago by Golden Dawn member Giorgos Roupakias.
Members of collectives, students, individuals from anti-authoritarian circles and members of the extra-parliamentary Left took to the city's main streets, chanting "Pavlos lives, crush the Nazis".
Today's anniversary acquired particular symbolic weight in the aftermath of Golden Dawn member Ilias Kasidiaris's release from prison.
The march began at 7 p.m. with a gathering at Kamara and moved onto Egnatia Avenue heading towards Ethnikis Amynis, traversing central streets. Strong ELAS units created a barrier with police vans at the intersection of Egnatia–Venizelou, at which point the main body of the march returned to Egnatia Avenue heading eastwards.
