PAME: Mass mobilisation in Keratsini for 13 years since Pavlos Fyssas murder
PAME calls on unions, workers and youth from Attica to an antifascist gathering organised by the Piraeus Workers' Centre on Friday 18 September at 17.30, at the memorial of Pavlos Fyssas in Keratsini, according to 902.gr. The march will then proceed towards the Kokkinià Blockade.
In its call, PAME emphasises: "13 years since the murder of Pavlos Fyssas, we do not forget, we do not forgive." The organisation stresses the need to preserve the memory of the "criminal actions of the Nazi Golden Dawn" and to make younger workers aware of them.
The timeline of the 2013 attacks
PAME recalls the attacks of September 2013 in the working-class areas of Piraeus. On the night of 12 September, an organised assault squad armed with batons and clubs set an ambush in Perama against communists and unionists from PAME and the Metal Workers' Union. Six days later, on 18 September, metalworker and musician Pavlos Fyssas was murdered in Keratsini.
Fascism and the labour movement
In the text of its call, PAME characterises fascism as the "long arm of capitalists" and argues that Golden Dawn functioned as the "paid hand of shipping magnates and contractors", with the aim of uprooting the Metal Workers' Union from the Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Zone. According to the announcement, behind racism lay the goal of sowing division between Greek and migrant workers.
Release of Kasidiaris
PAME explicitly refers to the release of "Nazi criminal Kasidiaris" and his promotion by the media as a "political figure". It characterises this as no coincidence, linking it to broader political choices of the state, which, according to the announcement, simultaneously issues decisions against strikes and antiwar voices.
The organisation concludes: "The organised labour and popular movement will send them where they belong. We will not allow the Nazis to raise their heads again."
