Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of Preveza identified a Greek national involved in a fraud ring targeting elderly people. The incidents occurred on 3 April 2026 in the city of Preveza.

According to investigative findings, the suspect's accomplices contacted two elderly women by telephone. Posing as technicians for the electricity company, they informed them of an alleged fault in the network that posed a fire risk to their homes.

Using psychological pressure, the perpetrators managed to convince the victims to gather their savings and valuables and place them in bags outside their residences. The main suspect then collected the bags, which contained a total of €4,900 in cash and jewellery of a value under investigation.

The case will be forwarded to the competent prosecutor of the area.
