Three arrests for €16,000 fraud using electricity fault pretext in Skydra municipality

According to businessdaily.gr, three men aged 32, 34 and 37 were arrested in Thessaloniki following fraud against a 41-year-old woman in a village of Skydra municipality in Pella.

An accomplice contacted the victim by telephone, posing as a ΔΕΔΔΗΕ employee. He asked her to place cash, jewellery, bank cards and documents in a bag and leave it outside her door — in order to allegedly "protect" them from a possible electricity leak. In this way, the woman lost €6,000 in cash and jewellery worth €10,000.

The three alleged perpetrators appeared at the location, collected the bag and left the village by car.

They were located 24 hours later in Thessaloniki, following the use of information about the getaway vehicle. In their possession were found €1,789 and part of the jewellery, which were returned to the victim, as well as four mobile phones.

Police are continuing investigations to locate the accomplice who made the telephone call.
