On Saturday afternoon, police officers arrested two individuals, aged 15 and 29 respectively, in the Elliniko area. The two suspects presented themselves as personnel of an electricity company and telephoned citizens with the aim of defrauding them of money using various schemes.
According to information from CNN.gr, the alleged fraudsters asked a man to place jewellery and cash inside a bag and leave it outside his apartment building. The citizen saw through the scheme and notified the prosecuting authorities. When the perpetrators arrived at the location to collect the bag, police officers were waiting for them and apprehended them.
The investigation that followed showed that from June 2026 onwards, the same criminal network had targeted the southern suburbs. Four cases have been solved, with the perpetrators' proceeds reaching €40,900. The younger of the two had managed to change clothing to make identification more difficult.
A case file was opened against them for criminal organisation and theft. Other individuals are involved in the case and are being sought by the authorities. It is worth noting that these specific perpetrators had previously engaged the Greek Police for similar criminal acts. The arrested individuals were brought before the Prosecutor.
