Fraud with fake accountants and jewellery theft in Neo Psychiko
Three men aged 33, 27 and 24 are in custody following a police operation in Kifisia. The arrested individuals are accused of participating in a criminal organisation, complicity in fraud, resisting authority and disobedience.
On Thursday afternoon, 9 July 2026, according to an announcement by the Hellenic Police, the three men made a telephone call to a young resident of Neo Psychiko. They pretended to be accountants and persuaded her to place all her jewellery in a box. After she did so, the perpetrators went to her house, seized the box and fled by car.
Officers from the DIAS unit spotted the vehicle in Marousi. When the driver saw the police officers, he accelerated to escape. A chase followed through streets in the area. During the flight, the accused threw the box containing the jewellery out of the car. Police officers found it and returned it to the young woman.
Following a coordinated operation with reinforcements from other units, police officers managed to immobilise the vehicle in Kifisia. The three men resisted strongly before surrendering.
During a subsequent search, the authorities found €1,383 in cash on them and four mobile phones. The car they used was confiscated. The arrested individuals are already the subject of a file opened by the Philothei–Psychiko Police Station. They were brought before a prosecutor.
