Arrests in Lykovrysi following fraud against 90-year-old woman and eventful pursuit

Two young men — a 20-year-old and an 18-year-old — were arrested in Lykovrysi following an eventful pursuit, after police officers spotted them emerging suspiciously from the entrance of an apartment building. According to naftemporiki.gr, the incident revealed fraud against a 90-year-old woman.

An off-duty officer from the DIAS unit spotted the two suspects at the intersection of Georgiou Papaandreou and Irinis streets, as well as a passenger car waiting for them with two other people inside. After the service was informed, a DIAS team located the vehicle on Irinis Avenue, near a petrol station.

The driver refused to stop at the police signal and accelerated, driving against traffic on Dexamenis Street. During the pursuit, the vehicle collided head-on with another passenger car and crashed into two parked cars, causing material damage.

The four passengers subsequently abandoned the vehicle and fled. Police officers located and arrested two of them, who were taken to the competent Department of Pursuit and Investigation of Crimes. A case file was drawn up against them for fraud and disobedience.

Police officers who went to the apartment building found the 90-year-old woman, who reported that these individuals had taken from her 700 euros in cash, a five-euro note and valuables worth what she described as a large sum of money. The two other suspects remain at large.
