According to Proto Thema, fraudsters took gold sovereigns and jewellery worth thousands of euros from an 84-year-old woman in Pieria, convincing her that she was at risk of being fined.
In the course of the investigation that followed, a total of three individuals were identified — two men and one woman — who are implicated in the case.
The perpetrators used a deception method whereby the victim was convinced that she faced legal or financial consequences, resulting in her handing over the valuable items.
