Attempted to Defraud Police Officer in Serres Posing as Accountants

A failed fraud was attempted in Serres when perpetrators encountered a police officer posing as their intended victim. A 21-year-old was arrested as part of an operation by the Serres Security Subdivision.

According to information, the young man appeared at a predetermined meeting believing he would collect €6,000 in cash and jewellery worth €18,000. The person who had arranged the meeting was in fact a police officer, who had impersonated the 45-year-old whom the fraudsters had selected as their target.

The 21-year-old was led away in handcuffs. Police are investigating any possible accomplices.
