Papadopoulou on Kasidiaris: "His conviction is not erased"
According to In.gr, deputy press spokesperson of the Hellenic Police Ánnα Papadopoulou described Ilias Kasidiaris as an "enemy of Democracy" hours after his release on Tuesday, 15 September, at noon.
Kasidiaris had been convicted for a leadership role in the criminal organisation of Golden Dawn. His release occurred just days before the 13th anniversary of the murder of Pavlos Fysas.
The spokesperson of the Communist Party of Greece emphasised that his release from prison "does not erase either the conviction for directing the criminal organisation of Golden Dawn, or its crimes".
In her statement, Papadopoulou warned: "We will not allow shop-window parties, nominal leaderships and stratagems to circumvent the law and return fascism to the political stage".
Regarding the possibility of Kasidiaris's electoral participation, the spokesperson said that "that is a matter for the Justice system", adding however: "The struggle against fascism is daily and it is everyone's concern".
