Arta: Father and grandfather arrested over exposure of infant on pavement
A toddler aged approximately three and a half years was found alone on a pavement in Arta on Monday. The grandfather and father of the child were arrested for the offence of exposure.
Toddler alone on the street — two arrests for exposure in Arta
A toddler aged approximately three and a half years was found wandering unaccompanied on a pavement in Arta on the afternoon of Monday, 19 October. The incident resulted in the arrest of both the grandfather and the father of the child for the offence of exposure, according to Dikastiko.gr.
The toddler was initially spotted by a woman passing by the location. She immediately notified the Police, as reported by epiruspost.gr.
Police intervention and discovery of grandfather
Police officers from Arta Police Station rushed to the scene and established that the child was alone, with no adult supervising him. A search was then conducted in the wider area, according to a police statement.
During the search, the toddler's grandfather was located. The investigation revealed that the child had escaped the grandfather's attention, resulting in the child being left unsupervised on the street. The grandfather was arrested at the scene for exposure.
Father presents himself voluntarily to Police
The child's father subsequently presented himself voluntarily to the Police. He was also arrested for the same offence of exposure.
The case file prepared by the Department for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes in Arta is to be submitted to the Prosecutor's Office of the District Court of Arta.
