Following their arrest, two police officers were brought before the judicial authorities in Nafplio. Their actions are being investigated in relation to the wounding of a 20-year-old youth, who sustained serious injuries during a pursuit in the wider Argos area.
The incident unfolded when the police officers engaged in a pursuit with the 20-year-old. During the episode, the young man came under fire and was seriously wounded in the head, with two separate bullet wounds.
At the scene of the incident, investigators found 13 cartridge cases, a fact that constitutes a critical piece of evidence for the investigation into the circumstances under which the shots were fired.
A ballistics examination is expected to shed light on the case, as it will establish whether the bullets were fired in the direction of the 20-year-old or whether the shooting occurred in the air, as the police officers themselves claim.
The two police officers face charges for the serious wounding of the young man and have been called upon to account for their actions during the pursuit.
