Police officers attempted to remove underage siblings of the "12-year-old of Kolonos"
Two plainclothes police officers attempted to take the two siblings of the "12-year-old" into a car, claiming to have a prosecutor's order. They were stopped by neighbours and family.
Incident outside the family home — police officers refused to show identification
According to In.gr, today at 1.00 p.m. two plainclothes men attempted to separate from their mother the two underage siblings — aged 12 and 11 — of the "12-year-old" from the Kolonos case.
The two men approached the children as they were returning home from school with their mother. They attempted to prevent them from entering the house and tried to take them to a car. They claimed to have a prosecutor's order to transfer the children to Kolonos Police Station, in order to conduct examinations for sexually transmitted diseases.
When the mother asked to see the prosecutor's order, the two men refused. They also refused to show their police identification. According to the complaint, they even threatened the children with transfer to the "Smile of the Child" organisation.
The children screamed and cried. Family members and residents from surrounding apartment buildings intervened to protect them. The two men stated that they would "return" and left.
Confirmation: they were indeed police officers
In.gr verified that the two men were active police officers. This was also confirmed through a telephone conversation with the head of Kolonos Police Station, according to the "Solidarity Committee for the 12-year-old", which publicised the complaint.
Questions remain open as to whether the method used was appropriate and whether the Prosecution for Minors was aware of this particular manner of execution. It also remains unclear why no social or welfare service was present.
Background of the case
The two children are siblings of the minor who was at the centre of the Kolonos case. For her rape, Ilias Michos has been convicted at first instance, while 17 other defendants have been convicted of various offences. The second-instance trial has been adjourned for 16 November 2026.
Statement from the Committee
The "Solidarity Committee for the 12-year-old" characterised the action as "abusive transfer" and alleged that the state was "re-traumatising" children who had already been harmed multiple times. The statement also noted that the police officers acted "without the necessary documents and legal procedures" and "without the slightest care", and linked the incident to the forthcoming second-instance trial: "With the trial approaching, they are trying to intimidate the family in every way".
