Greek police officers with SKY-ECC encrypted phones in drug trafficking networks

According to reader.gr, television station Mega revealed that police officers in Attica allegedly used encrypted phones to communicate with drug dealers operating in the same network.

This concerns the "invisible" SKY-ECC system, through which information was exchanged about drug trafficking, murder contracts and other organised crime activities.

Two years ago, international police authorities detected that thousands of criminals worldwide were using encrypted phones from a specific company, intended exclusively for them. Of these, 3,000 criminals based in Greece were identified on the same network.

During the investigation, it was established that two or more Greek police officers were maintaining such devices without their service's knowledge. They allegedly used them to inform organised crime figures about the operational movements of the Greek Police.

The encrypted phones have already been decrypted and the investigation is expected to continue.
