Husband of presenter acquitted – Court adopts prosecutor's recommendation
The Misdemeanour Court found the husband of a journalist and TV presenter not guilty, who had faced charges of simple domestic assault committed in the presence of a minor, according to Naftemporiki.
"I have regretted it," the defendant stated in his defence. "We will try to ensure it does not happen again, we will work on it with someone specialist," he added.
The journalist appeared in person before the court and described the incident of 24 August. She stated that on the morning of that day there had been tension and a verbal dispute between them, and subsequently "I felt a pulling of my hair, without sustaining physical injury". She immediately called the police, and subsequently went with their baby to the paediatrician.
She also testified that her husband had contacted her and apologised. "Above all we are parents, the matter should be resolved calmly," she told the court, adding that both intend to seek advice from a specialist counsellor.
The court, adopting the prosecutor's recommendation, acquitted the defendant of the charge. Simultaneously, the restrictive condition that required him to reside at a different address was also lifted.
