A 33-year-old sports official who directs matches in the top category of Greek basketball fell victim to an attack on his home in Messenia. In the early hours of Saturday, unknown individuals approached the residence and painted offensive expressions on the surrounding wall.
The man's relatives were awakened by the noise and went outside. They observed two figures moving away, with covered faces, without being able to identify them.
The referee proceeded to file a complaint against unknown persons. According to ertnews.gr, the incident took place around two in the morning.
Local police compiled a file for damage to foreign property, insult to personality, as well as for violations related to the sports law.
The authorities are investigating the case, seeking evidence that will lead to the identification of those responsible.
