A serious incident of violent behaviour took place in Ilion, Attica, when an unknown man attacked a female driver while she was inside her car, injuring her in the face. Her minor child watched from the back seat.
The confrontation began over a disagreement about right of way on a narrow street. The man got out of his vehicle and approached the woman's car, criticising the way she had entered the narrow street. He claimed that he was a professional driver and that he had undergone tendon surgery.
The woman told him to reverse to resolve the deadlock and told him that he should not be driving if his condition did not permit it. He approached the driver's window and punched her in the face, causing trauma to her eye.
Residents of the area who witnessed the incident shouted, but were unable to stop the attacker. The perpetrator returned to his own vehicle, reversed and disappeared.
Eyewitnesses noted the details of the vehicle and passed them on to the authorities. Police arrived promptly at the scene and are conducting an investigation to locate the perpetrator.
The victim is being treated for trauma to her eye and is in a state of shock. Her child is also showing signs of shock from the violent assault she witnessed.
