Security camera footage has emerged showing the movements of a man who has confessed to the murder of 45-year-old Stavrula Leventaki in Chania, according to reporting by News 24/7.
On the morning of 31 May, the suspect is seen driving a blue van in Alikiano. He is reported to have attempted to place the body inside the vehicle but encountered a problem. He therefore used a construction trolley that was available, after first confirming that no one was around the residence.
Authorities have recorded multiple exits from the house on 30 May. According to the records, he left for the first time at 18:29 and returned at 18:45. Later, at 22:35, he left again and returned just before midnight. The following morning, at 06:11, another exit was recorded, this time in a different vehicle, a white van.
After the crime, the suspect went to an ATM machine twice and withdrew money using the cards of the deceased woman, as he himself admitted.
The owner of the house where the victim was staying spoke to Mega, describing a woman who appeared sad and isolated. She mentioned that Stavrula kept a personal diary with her thoughts, which police are examining.
According to what the accused stated, the two of them had occasional sexual contact. He claimed that she pressured him to continue their relationship, while he refused. When she threatened to tell his partner, an argument broke out. The man maintains that she hit him first with a bottle, he took it from her hands and struck her on the head. When she began screaming, he covered her mouth with tape, went to the kitchen, took a knife and struck her twice in the chest. He then tied her up, wrapped her in bags and in the morning transported her by his car to a field he owns in Vatolakkos, where he buried her.
