Volos: Five arrests for electricity and water theft

Five residents of Volos were arrested yesterday on suspicion of stealing electricity and water. The arrests were made during special inspections carried out by officers of the local police, with the assistance of teams from the Public Power Corporation (DEDDIE) and the Volos Water Company (DEYAMB).

Among the five arrested are four men and one woman. All are Greek citizens. The investigation showed that the suspects had installed illegal connections to the networks, avoiding the installation of consumption meters.

Specifically, the suspects are alleged to have breached the electricity network by installing their own wiring. Additionally, four of them are also charged with illegal connection to the water supply network, again without meters.

Case files have already been opened and the investigation is continuing.
