Parliament: Immunity lifted for Abramópoulos and Konstantopóulou with 264 and 175 votes

Parliament plenary: 'Green light' for two immunity removals
The Parliament plenary approved the lifting of parliamentary immunity for both Dimitri Abramópoulos and Zoi Konstantopóulou, opening the way for the continuation of the respective judicial proceedings, as reported by tomanifesto.gr.
264 MPs voted in favour of lifting immunity for the former commissioner and New Democracy MP. The case concerns an investigation by the European Public Prosecutor's Office within the framework of the Qatargate scandal. Abramópoulos did not attend the session, but sent a memorandum to Parliament President Nikita Kaklamani, denying any involvement in the case. According to parliamentary sources, he himself had requested the immunity lift in order to cooperate fully with the investigations, and is expected to travel to Belgium for this purpose.
The lifting of immunity for Ploséfsi Elefthérias president Zoi Konstantopóulou was approved with 175 votes, following a complaint filed against her. She had initially informed the Parliament President that she would not attend due to the trial of Sifi Valyrákis's case. She ultimately appeared in parliament and took the floor, launching a fierce attack against the government.
Konstantopóulou spoke of a "tsunami of legal documents" reaching Parliament with the aim of striking her politically, also targeting PASOK. "We have statements and legal documents that all have in common that they originate from New Democracy and specifically with the special participation of Messrs Geórgiadis, Vorídi, Marinákis, Lazarídis and Markópoulos, and all of these clearly on the orders of Prime Minister Kyriákos Mitsotákis himself," she argued. At the same time, she accused New Democracy and PASOK of contributing to the holding of the session despite her request for postponement.
"I regret the cooperation with New Democracy in order to torpedo in such a cheap way the trial for the murder of Sifi Valyrákis," she stated characteristically.
The response from New Democracy came through parliamentary spokesman Dimitri Kairídis, who criticised Konstantopóulou's stance. "This type of aimless fire, shouting, toxicity and tensions do not constitute opposition," he said, adding: "Dimitri Abramópoulos requested his own immunity lift himself, while you are hiding."
The session developed into a new head-on clash between the government and Ploséfsi Elefthérias, against the backdrop of both the Konstantopóulou case and the European investigation into QatarGate which is linked to Abramópoulos.
