Arrests of "hardcore" Panathinaikos hooligans – 39 people in case file
Ten Panathinaikos supporters were remanded in custody in an operation by the Directorate for Combating Sports Violence, according to protagon.gr. The arrested individuals are accused of participation in a criminal organisation that operated in the western neighbourhoods of Athens.
According to the authorities, the group carried out attacks against supporters of Olympiakos, Larisa and Atromitos. The person attributed with a leadership role had already been charged with participation in a clash between AEK, Panathinaikos and Dinamo Zagreb supporters in August 2023, during which Michalis Katsouris lost his life.
On Thursday 2 July, the ten detainees were brought before a prosecutor. They face charges of criminal organisation, arson, explosion, manufacture and possession of explosives, attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, damage to property, robbery and extortion, as well as violations of legislation concerning weapons, flares and narcotics.
The case file includes a total of 39 people, with activity dating back at least to August 2025.
